This disease is caused by an excess of fluid in the inner ear. It tends to cause recurrent episodes of dizziness, hearing loss and tinnitus (ringing sounds in the ear).
Giddiness that happens together with ringing in the ears or hearing difficulty
Dizziness
I feel like I'm spinning around / vertigo
Hearing difficulty
Sensation of imbalance as if floating when at sea
Ringing sounds in the ear, i.e. Tinnitus, on one side only
Ringing in the ears
Nausea or vomiting

Treatment mainly aims to reduce and prevent vertigo episodes. The specialist may prescribe medications for this, or recommend other procedures in the ear. As hearing loss progresses, some patients may also benefit from using hearing aids.
