10s, Male
I am a male, 5'5" tall and weigh around 200 lbs. I have no significant medical history. Recently, I noticed a sort of large lump in my neck under my jawline. I don't feel much unless I press the lump, at which point it feels somewhat painful and very sore. Aside from this lump, I haven't had many other symptoms, although I did have diarrhea twice today. This lump appeared about 3 days ago. I think it started the night after I had a Buzzball (an alcoholic drink), but I'm not entirely sure. What might be causing my current symptoms?
I understand you're concerned about a lump in your neck and some other symptoms. First, I want to emphasize that drinking alcohol at your age can be harmful to your health and development. It's important to avoid alcohol until you're of legal drinking age.
Swollen lymph nodes are often a sign that your body is fighting an infection. Common causes include:
The diarrhea you experienced could be related to the same infection or possibly to the alcohol consumption.
Given your age and the presence of these symptoms, I strongly recommend seeing a doctor, preferably your pediatrician or family doctor. They can properly examine the lump, check for other symptoms, and determine if any tests are needed.
In the meantime:
Remember, while swollen lymph nodes are often harmless, it's important to have them checked by a healthcare professional, especially when they persist. Your health and well-being are important, so please seek proper medical care.
We would love to help them too.
