I have a throbbing pain a couple inches below my left breast and slightly off to the left side. It’s been pretty consistent for about an hour now, and does not seem to be getting worse. As far as I can tell, there are no other symptoms. I am prone to anxiety, but not panic attacks. Should I seek medical attention?
I understand you're experiencing chest pain and are concerned. Chest pain can be worrying, and it's good that you're taking it seriously.
In my experience, any persistent chest pain should be evaluated by a healthcare professional, especially if it's new or different from what you've experienced before. While it could be related to anxiety or muscle strain, chest pain can also be a sign of more serious conditions.
Danger signs that require immediate medical attention include:
Severe chest pain or pressure Pain spreading to your jaw, left arm, or back Shortness of breath Nausea or vomiting Dizziness or lightheadedness Rapid or irregular heartbeat Sweating for no apparent reason
Given that your pain has been consistent for an hour, I recommend seeking medical attention soon, even if it's not worsening. It's always better to err on the side of caution with chest pain.
Remember, only a healthcare provider can properly evaluate your symptoms and provide appropriate care. Take care, and don't hesitate to call emergency services if you feel your condition is worsening.
We would love to help them too.
