Following COVID infection, it is common for a fever of 38℃/100.4°F or higher to last for anywhere from 2-10 days.
Fever (temperature greater than 38℃) due to COVID-19 is the most common symptom and typically lasts 2-5 days. Fever duration and symptom severity vary based on factors such as vaccination status, co-occurring medical conditions and age. Those with a higher number of vaccinations and mild symptoms may not exhibit fever symptoms. On the other hand, in those with severe infections such as pneumonia, fever symptoms may last longer. If the fever persists beyond 5-7 days or if severe symptoms appear in addition to the fever, seek further medical attention.
