Not having your period for several months can be normal in some cases, especially with stress, weight changes, or exercise habits, but it should be checked if it continues or comes with other issues.
When you miss your period for several months, this is known as amenorrhea. Sometimes, your body might stop having periods because of stress, significant weight loss, or too much exercise. This is called functional hypothalamic amenorrhea and is often temporary and not a sign of a serious problem. On the other hand, stopping menstruation can also be a signal of other hormonal changes or conditions. It is important to think about any changes in your body, like changes in weight, energy levels, or other symptoms you might be experiencing. If you have missed several periods and cannot explain why, or if you notice other changes like unexpected weight gain or loss, unusual hair growth, or discomfort, it is a good idea to see a doctor. They can check your hormone levels and overall health to make sure everything is working as it should. Remember, while it can be normal under certain circumstances, a prolonged absence of periods should be evaluated to rule out any underlying issues.
