A late period can be due to many reasons like stress, changes in weight or exercise habits, and shifts in your hormones, even if you're not pregnant.
If you’re not pregnant, there are still several reasons why your period might be late. One common reason is stress. When you are under a lot of stress, your body’s hormones may be affected which can alter your cycle. Changes in your weight, whether losing or gaining, can also affect your hormones and timing. Sometimes, intense exercise or changes in how much you exercise can make a difference too. Hormone imbalances, like those related to thyroid issues or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), can also delay your period. Hormone changes are particularly common during puberty and perimenopause. Illness and certain medications might play a role as well. Even changes in your routine, such as new sleep patterns or shifts in your daily life, can cause your cycle to shift a bit. Ultimately, however, it is a good idea to consult your healthcare provider for guidance.
