Missing your period for three months and then having it return can come from a natural, but irregular, hormone cycle or other temporary factors like stress or weight changes.
Sometimes your period might stop for a few months and then start again because your hormones are a bit out of balance. This is known as oligomenorrhea when periods are infrequent. Many things, like stress, changes in weight, or even increased exercise, can affect how your body makes the hormones that control your menstrual cycle. In these cases, your body may take a break from having your period and then catch up later. It is also possible that the temporary pause was a form of what doctors call secondary amenorrhea, especially if it happens only once and then your cycle returns to normal. It is often a normal sign that your body is adjusting to changes. However, if this happens frequently or if you are worried about it, it is a good idea to talk with a doctor. They can check to make sure that your hormones and overall health are balanced and help you understand what might be happening with your menstrual cycle.
