Swelling and pain in the testicle can be due to conditions that cut off blood supply to the testicle as well as inflammatory conditions or trauma. You should see a doctor immediately to evalute for possible emergencies.
When your right testicle is swollen and painful, there are several causes to consider. Testicular torsion is a medical emergency where the spermatic cord twists, cutting off blood flow to the testicle. This condition causes sudden, severe pain and swelling, and requires immediate surgical treatment to prevent permanent damage. Epididymitis and orchitis are inflammatory conditions affecting parts of the male reproductive system. Epididymitis is inflammation of the epididymis (tube that stores and carries sperm), while orchitis is inflammation of the testicle itself. These conditions often cause swelling and pain in the affected area. A varicocele is an enlargement of veins in the testicle. A hydrocele is a buildup of fluid around the testicle. Both conditions can cause swelling and discomfort in the affected area. Other causes include trauma or injury to the testicle, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) causing inflammation, and in rare cases, testicular cancer. Some men may also experience swelling due to inguinal hernias, where abdominal tissue pushes into the scrotum. If you experience sudden or severe testicular swelling and pain, you should seek medical attention immediately.
