Fracture of the spine bones. This kind of fracture usually occurs in older patients with osteoporosis (bone weakening). It can be caused by even small amounts of force e.g. falling on buttocks, lifting heavy objects. Some patients may pass it off as a normal backache, only to have diagnosed later on when an X-ray is done.
