Brain fog may come with dizziness because both can be caused by changes in blood flow or problems in the brain and balance systems. Issues with the brain’s blood supply or the inner ear’s balance system can affect how clear your thinking is and make you feel dizzy.
Sometimes, factors that change the way your blood moves can make your brain feel foggy and your head dizzy at the same time. For example, in conditions like postural tachycardia syndrome, when you stand up, blood flow might not reach the brain adequately, which can lead to both cloudy thinking (brain fog) and dizziness. The inner ear helps to control balance. If the vestibular system (the part of the ear that helps with balance) isn’t working right, it can cause unsteadiness and may also make it harder for your brain to think clearly. Studies have shown that when these balance systems are not working properly, they may also affect brain functions. In short, when blood flow or the parts of the brain and ear involved in balance are disrupted, you might experience both brain fog and dizziness together.
