Brain fog from COVID-19 can start a few weeks after recovery, but the timing can vary a lot between people.
Brain fog means having trouble thinking clearly, remembering things, or concentrating. Some studies have found that many people notice brain fog within a few weeks after they start feeling better from COVID-19. However, not everyone experiences it the same way. Some people may experience these symptoms right after recovering, while others might not notice any issues until a month or two later—or even longer. This difference can be due to many factors such as how severe the illness was, a person’s overall health, and other stress factors after infection. Research on COVID-19 survivors, including those who were in the hospital, has shown that cognitive symptoms like brain fog can appear and sometimes last for months. Because everyone’s experience is different, it is important to watch for any changes in your memory or cognitive function after COVID-19 and discuss them with a healthcare provider if they last longer than expected.
