Left shoulder and left leg pain might be linked through similar muscle or nerve issues, where weakness or abnormal movement from one area adds strain to another.
Sometimes, pain in your left shoulder and left leg can seem connected because our body parts work together. When one area of the body is weak or hurting, it can change the way you move. For instance, if you have pain in your left leg, it might make you favor one side when you walk. This uneven movement can cause extra stress and muscle strain in your shoulder, leading to discomfort. One study found that knee pain can predict later shoulder pain, partly because of leg weakness that affects how you use your shoulder. In addition, our nerves and muscles are interconnected, and sometimes a problem with the nerves in one area, like in the neck or spine, can cause pain in both the shoulder and the leg. This type of referred pain means that even though the source of the problem might be in your back or neck, you feel it in different parts of your body. If you experience ongoing pain in both these areas, it might be a good idea to check with a healthcare provider to look at how your body is working as a whole.
