A red lump on the stomach could mean there is inflammation, infection, or even a small collection of blood (hematoma) under the skin, but other causes are possible as well.
A red, raised lump on your stomach could be a sign that something isn’t quite normal in that area. Sometimes the redness happens because of inflammation or an infection in the soft tissues just under the skin. This can happen if the skin is injured or if bacteria have entered through a break in the skin. In other cases, especially if there is a history of trauma or if you have recently had surgery, a red lump could be due to a small collection of blood known as a hematoma. Hematomas form when blood leaks into the tissues and can cause the overlying skin to appear red or discolored. Although these are common causes, there are other less common reasons such as benign (non-cancerous) lumps or even tumor-like lesions that can sometimes appear red because of the blood vessels involved or inflammation around them. It is important to have any new or painful red lump checked by a healthcare provider, who can perform an examination and possibly suggest imaging tests to determine the exact cause and the best way to treat it.
