What is Acute Cholangitis?
Inflammation of the bile ducts near the liver. It can be caused by stones or tumors blocking the liver's drainage system. This often results in a serious infection. Prompt medical treatment is crucial as it can be life-threatening.
Typical Symptoms of Acute Cholangitis
History of bile duct infection or inflammation, i.e. cholangitis
Abdominal pain that worsens after meals
Stomach pain or tummy ache in a specific place
Suspected Murphy's sign positive
Fever
Right upper abdominal pain
Decrease in urine volume
Pain when pressing down on the abdomen
