A bacterial infection of the areas surrounding the tonsils, or deep parts of the neck. Pus accumulates in these areas, forming an abscess.
Sore throat
Fever
Difficulty swallowing food or water
Drooling
Feeling breathless
Throat redness
Thick, muffled voice
Ear pain
Your doctor may ask these questions to diagnose peritonsillar abscess / deep neck abscess

This condition is usually treated with antibiotics. If the abscess is large, The doctor may cut or drain the abscess to remove the pus.
