What is Aspergillosis?

Aspergillosis is an infection caused by a type of fungus. It typically affects the respiratory system and sinuses, but its signs and severity vary greatly. Aspergillus is present everywhere (indoors and outdoors), which can cause the infection.

Typical Symptoms of Aspergillosis

  • Cough worsens with exercise

  • Discharge of yellow or green sputum.

  • Blood in saliva

  • Noisy breathing; e.g. wheezing, rattling

  • History of connective tissue, autoimmune or rheumatic disease

  • Fever

  • Waking up at night with difficulty in breathing

  • On medications that suppresses the immune system
