Your doctor may ask these questions to diagnose IBS
Do you have abdominal pain (stomach ache)?
Do you feel that your abdomen (stomach) is bloated or has a lot of gas?
Do you hear gurgling sounds in the abdomen (stomach)?
Do you have loose bowels when you have a stomachache?
Does your stomach pain improve after you empty your bowels?
IBS is treated through avoiding triggers and relieving symptoms. Identifying triggers e.g. dairy, beans, fried food, or stress may help. The doctor may prescribe medicines to relieve symptoms of diarrhea or stomach cramps. There is a FODMAPs diet which may be effective.
