Ear pain
Runny nose
Significant difference in hearing difficulty between my left and right ear
Common cold or stomach flu symptoms before the fever appeared
Ringing sounds in the ear, i.e. Tinnitus, on one side only
Fever
Hearing difficulty
Runny nose with yellow or green mucus
Your doctor may ask these questions to diagnose otitis media
Do you have ear pain?
Do you have a runny nose?
Do you feel that there is a large difference in your hearing between left and right ear?
Did you experience any common cold or stomach flu symptoms before your current fever appeared?
Do you have ringing in one ear only?
This condition may often heal by itself. The doctor may prescribe ear drops, antibiotics or oral medicines for pain relief. If the infection lasts for a long time, a tiny tube may be inserted into the eardrum, to help fluid drain out faster.
