About the symptom

It describes feeling of restless with an increase in activity which may be accompanied by pressured speech.

Possible causes

  • Hyperactivity disorder

    Hyperactivity disorder or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is chronic condition characterized by attention difficulty, hyperactivity and impulsiveness. It often begins in childhood and can cause a child to have trouble in school, at home, or with friends. Causes may include genetics, head injury, exposure to environmental risks (e.g., lead) during pregnancy or at a young age, alcohol and tobacco use during pregnancy, premature delivery, low birth weight. It's is more common in male cildren.

  • Anorexia nervosa / bulimia nervosa

    A condition where there is abnormal fear of gaining weight. Patients try to lose weight excessively through fasting, inducing vomiting, or excessive exercise.

  • Hyperthyroidism

    A disorder of an overactive thyroid gland. This causes overactivity of thyroid hormones that are needed for growth, development and metabolism. Causes include viral infections, brain disorders and autoimmunity (where the body's immune system attacks itself)

  • Bipolar disorder
