Leiomyomas also known as fibroids are benign growths (non-cancerous) that occur in the uterus (womb). They are a very common finding, and while most do not cause symptoms, they can be a cause of pelvic pain, and heavy menstrual bleeding in reproductive aged women. The exact cause for them is unknown, but risk factors include a positive family history of fibroids, obesity, or early onset of puberty

Treatment of Leiomyoma
Treatments include medication to manage symptoms, and possibly shrink the fibroids. In some cases surgical removal of the fibroid or uterus is required.
