This occurs when the body has insufficient levels of the nutrients zinc / biotin (a vitamin). In either case, skin irritation, hair loss and fungal infections on the skin lesions may occur. Deficiency may be caused by malnutrition, problems with absorbing the nutrients in the gut, a short gut, certain long-term conditions and some medications.
