About the symptom

Night sweats are repeated episodes of very heavy sweating during sleep, heavy enough to soak the night clothes or bedding. It may require change of clothes due to excessive sweating.

Possible causes

  • Candidiasis (oral, hands and feet)

    Normal human skin contains bacteria and fungi. Candidiasis happens when the fungus overgrows and invades the skin. Risk factors include warm moist environments, and a weakened immune system.

  • Influenza

    An infection causes by the influenza virus which usually affects the respiratory tract (nose-windpipe-lungs).

  • Hypopituitarism

    The pituitary gland is a part of the brain that controls hormone levels in the entire body. In hypopituitarism, this control is disrupted, causing hormone levels to drop and organ function to decrease. Causes include tumors, previous radiotherapy, infections and autoimmunity (body's immune system attacking itself).
