Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) is a common bacterial disease affecting the intestinal tract. It is usually caused by consuming raw or undercooked meat, poultry, eggs, or egg products.
Since salmonella infection can lead to dehydration, treatment focuses on replenishing fluids and electrolytes either orally or intravenously. Additionally, antibiotics, antidiarrheals, and fever-reducing medications are prescribed.
